Kenneth Dan Norwood, age 65, husband of Sherry Charlene Brown Norwood, passed away at his residence in Iva, SC on Friday, December 4, 2020.

Born in Anderson County, SC on May 3, 1955, Kenneth was the son of Betty Claudette Mitchell Norwood and the late Callie Mason Norwood.

He was a 1973 honor graduate of Crescent High School in Iva. During his high school years, he drove a school bus, and was active in the Beta Club and the Future Farmers of America.

Kenneth completed his degree from Anderson College in 1987.

Kenneth worked in the draw-in room at Jackson Mills in Iva, SC. He then briefly worked at Smith-Boughtnight Auto Repair in Anderson, SC. Kenneth returned to his job at Jackson Mills and remained until its closing in December of 1995. Soon after, he worked at Flexible Tubing in Abbeville, SC until he was hired by BOSCH in Anderson, SC where he was employed until his death. He worked at BOSCH about 24 years.

Kenneth was a member of East View Baptist Church in Belton, SC, where he served as a deacon. Previously, as a member of Rocky River Baptist Church in Iva, SC, he served as a deacon and taught the Young Unmarried Sunday School Class. Kenneth also was caretaker of Rocky River's grounds and cemetery, keeping the grass mowed neatly, as his grandfather did before him.

Fourteen years, from July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2016, Kenneth served as Ward 2 Town Councilman in Iva, SC. Kenneth loved his hometown and worked diligently to make it the best it could be.

Kenneth farmed with his father and brothers. He enjoyed operating farm machinery and working crops. He had a great love for animals.

He and his wife Sherry married on September 22, 1979 and have enjoyed 41 wonderful years together. Sherry shared his love of animals, and they raised many different kinds of poultry and fur-babies through the years. Kenneth and Sherry would both drive tractors and trucks to help with the farming.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Norwood; mother, Betty Norwood; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Harold Taylor; siblings, sister Janice McCullough (Gary), brothers David Norwood (Tammy), and Randall Norwood; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Bobby Orr of St. Petersburg, FL; nephews, Garrett McCullough and Tyler Norwood; one niece, Kacie Norwood; one great-niece, Valkyrie Clason-Norwood; and cousins (lovingly taken care of by Betty and Mason while their parent or parents worked), Joseph Norwood and Joyce Stone. Special neighbors adored by Kenneth were Stephen and Diana Burdette, and their children Sela, Seth, and Symphony. Lori Willis was a close and special friend.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Mason Norwood; his wife's father, Ed Brown; and an infant nephew, Stephen Norwood.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in The Maple Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
