Obituary for Wilma Marie "Tootie" Green

Wilma Marie Green (Tootie)
February 16, 1941- May 14, 2021

Wilma Marie Green affectionately referred to by many as “Tootie” peacefully passed away at her home on May 14 at the age of 80 due to complications from hip surgery.

She was the daughter of the late Odis Alexander and Lily Mae Emery.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 40 years Dewey Alan Green as well as her brothers Charles Alexander of Anderson, Jack Alexander of Anderson, and James Alexander of Pickens.
She is survived by her sisters Easter Jacobs and Helen Horne both of Anderson.

She is also survived by her daughters Pamela Hill of Birchwood, TN, Susan Hefti of Starr, SC and Sara Powell of Anderson, SC and adopter daughter Peggy Davis of Tampa, FL. She loved her many grandchildren Matt Hill, Gary Henderson Jr., David Henderson, Kory Monfort, Diana Sharpe, Leslie Cochran, Kelly Monfort, Amanda Graef as well as her 8 Great Grandchildren Anya, Aiden, Alyssa, Rylee, Alexis, Skyler, Stanlee, Gabby. She also was loved be her many nieces and nephews.

Her 80 years on this earth was full of many adventures including traveling with her husband and family with the military to places such as Germany and several years spent in Japan. She gave her family roots in Tampa, Florida where she even became the President of the American Legion Women’s auxiliary. That is also where she raised money to help Haitian missionaries with building an orphanage. She also spent many years being a caretaker for the elderly and was even a volunteer for a local clown group. She returned to her hometown of Anderson after the passing of her beloved husband. She was a member of The Brook Church in Anderson, SC. She was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.

A celebration of her amazing life will be held Saturday May 29, 2021 at 11 am at The Brook Church 3215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Anderson, SC 29625

Her final resting place will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where she will be reunited with her husband who passed away in 2002. A private service will be held at a later date at the cemetery.
