Obituary for Rev. Terry Mitchell
(Rev. Terry Mitchell) Reverend William Terry Mitchell, 74, husband of Rita Davis Mitchell of Anderson, died Monday, February 8, 2021 at The Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Belton, SC on November 14, 1946, he was the son of the late William Harold Mitchell and the late Gladys Evelyn Sheriff Mitchell.
He attended T.L. Hanna High School and was U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran.
Rev. Mitchell was retired from The United Methodist Church and served as pastor of congregations in Greenville, Pelzer, Union, Honea Path and Starr.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita Davis Mitchell, his children, Chris Mitchell, Mark Mitchell (Christine), Greg Mitchell (Melissa) and Daisy Mitchell and 10 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother Freddie Mitchell (Frances) and his mother-in-law, Iris Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gene Davis.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00am in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center. Reverends Cy Rogers, Kevin Dalton and Thomas Bailey will officiate. The family will speak to attendees following the service.
Burial of his cremated remains will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 11:00am at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Social distancing is to be observed and face masks are required at all events.
