(Don Hudson) William Donald “Don” Hudson, 75, left this world on Saturday, February 27, 2021, for a life eternal with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He died at the Rainey Hospice House after a brief illness.

He was born in Anderson, S.C. on October 30, 1945, the son of the late William F. “Bill” Hudson and the late Inez Ferguson Hudson.

Don attended public schools in Anderson and graduated in 1963 from T.L. Hanna High School. He continued his education at the University of South Carolina, where he became a lifelong, avid Gamecock fan.

Don joined the management trainee program of J.C. Penny in 1968 in Greenville, S.C. His employment saw him relocate throughout his thirty-three years of service to stores in Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky and Florida. He was actively involved in the Rotary Clubs wherever he was transferred throughout his career. Don retired from JC Penny in 2001 and happily returned to his home in Anderson. He then worked part-time at Country Inns and Suites for 19 years.

A lifelong Baptist, Don was an active member of Concord Baptist Church and the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class, and also served on the Usher Committee.

He is survived by his sister, Linda, and her husband Dr. A. Ronald Cowley of Greenville, S.C., his son, Michael Scott Hudson, Iva, S.C., and a nephew, Jason Cowley, Fountain Inn, S.C.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 3:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. Bill Parnell will officiate.

The family will speak to visitors 30 minutes prior to the service. A private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, S.C.

Due to COVID-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Haven of Rest Ministries, 219 W. Whitner St. Anderson, S.C. 29624

I've known Don since Boys' HIgh School 10th Grade. Over the many years, Don has been a great friend and a very considerate and caring person. He certainly will be missed by all who knew him.

I met Don through his son, Michael Hudson. From the first day I met him he was always very kind and loving towards me and my son right away. He was always there for us no matter the situation. Weather it be a silly thing like running out of gas on the highway, or just needing someone to be there for us, he was always just a call away. We will miss you so much Don, thank you for being in mine and my sons life! It was an honor to know you for the past 3 short years. Rest easy. We know you’re in heaven watching over us always. ♥️
