Obituary for William Rufus "Pug" Cartee

William Rufus ”Pug” Cartee, 74, of Central, SC, husband of Maxine Cartee, passed away Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020 at St. Francis Bon Secours Hospital.

He was born March 10, 1946 and was the son of the late Harold Clinton Cartee and Marie Voccia Cartee of Pendleton, SC.

Surviving are wife Maxine Cartee, of Central, SC; son, Darrell Cartee of Pendleton, SC; daughter Camille Cartee (Sandy Hardee) of Greenville, SC; and grandson, Alex Cartee. Step-daughters Robin Shields and Theresa Marlow of Taylors, SC.

William grew up in Pendleton, SC. He served in the U.S. Air Force. William worked his whole life in the textile industry in the Upstate. He worked at La France and then was co-owner of Master-Weave and Pro-Weave.

He loved being surrounded by his family. He was known for being a jokester and his love of the outdoors. Later in life he loved his goats and alpacas at his home in Central. He was a passionate, avid golfer and was a long-time member of Boscobel Golf Course. He became active in supporting veterans later in life and was actively involved in Vets Helping Vets. He was a member of Revealing Truth Ministries in Piedmont, SC.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 5:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, SC 29625.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00pm until funeral time.

Social distancing is to be observed and face masks are required.
