Roy Black
October 10, 1937 – June 9, 2022

William “Roy” Black, 84, husband of Odean Black, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Roy was a son of the late James Thomas Black and the late Eunice Hopkins Black.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy, Ralph & Charles Black and his sister, Jane Gaffney.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Roy Allan Black (Kathy) of Belton, Tammy King (Shawn) of Anderson, Ronda Black of Belton & Krystal Smith (Johnny) of Anderson, grandchildren, Shannon Chappell, Nicholas King, Michelle Wales, Nichole Broshar, Amanda Broshar & Jake Smith, great-grandchildren, Landon Chappell, Laityn Chappell, Avery King & Rhett Wales and his brother, John Black.

A member of Concord Baptist Church, Roy was known for his servant’s heart. He actively pursued mission work and was a member of the Freemasons. Roy was a skilled carpenter and many families have cherished the work that he did throughout the years. He was a true gentleman with a smile that was as sweet as he was. He will be missed by so many.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 1:30 pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625. Dr. Don Cox will officiate. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held prior to the service in The Maple Room of The Standard from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm.
