Obituary for Wes Malone

Wes Malone
April 20, 1940 – May 14, 2021

Weston Malone, 81, of Belton, SC, passed away at the Richard M Campbell Veterans Nursing Home on May 14, 2021.

“Wes” was the son of the late Dee Weston Malone and the late Hettie Estelle Fausett Malone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Malone, a tail-gunner who was killed in action in WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Arnold Malone, daughter, Kelly Malone Turpin (Phillip) and his son, John Weston Malone, his sisters, Joyce Bruce Wilds, Nancy Malone Wood, his two grandchildren, Maegan Turpin Taylor (Travis), Meribeth Lindsey Turpin, and his three great grandchildren Sophie, Stella Kate and “Scottie” Taylor.

After his service in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served his country, he came back to Belton, married Joyce and worked for Norfolk Southern Railway for 41 years and retired as a conductor in 2001.

He spent a lot of his retirement volunteering. He worked at BIMA, delivered Meals on Wheels, and participated in the Honor Guard for Richard Campbell Veterans Home. He enjoyed forwarding funny or thought-worthy emails, keeping up with the news, watching nature shows, riding in the country, shopping around the big stores and going out to eat where he always enjoyed joking with the staff.

Wes loved to tease, joke and laugh. A big softie, he was always concerned about the welfare of other people. He was sharp and didn’t miss much. Being a help to others and making them smile brought him much joy.

The family will host a memorial service at 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 20, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Belton, 105 Brown Avenue, Belton, SC 29627.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Home for Children.

The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center is serving the Malone family and a message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.standardfuneralcenter.com.
