Obituary for Tommy Black

Tommy Ralph Black, 67, resident of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House with family by his side.

Born in Anderson, Tommy was the son of the late Ralph “Poker” Black and Vivian Hall Black. Tommy was a graduate of Pendleton High and the S.C. Police Academy. After completing the academy, Tommy began working in Law Enforcement, mostly as a state trooper, and later retired from the force after 43 years of service.

Tommy was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Anderson.

Tommy is survived by a son, Adam Black (Michelle) of Iva, and two sisters, Jean Dickson (Wayne) of Anderson and Sue Rankin (Doug) of Seneca. He was also survived by his nephews, Cordell Dickson, Dane Dickson, Jacob Dickson, Cody Watt, Greg Dickson (Stacey), Andy Dickson (Shanna), and nieces, Alison Kendrick (Blake) and Kiera Dickson.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery with Rev. Hudson White officiating.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Family will be at the home of his sister Jean Dickson, 517 Sandy Springs Rd, Anderson, SC.
