Obituary for Sylvia "Pat" Gunter
(Sylvia “Pat” Gunter) Sylvia LaDon “Pat” Gunter, 79, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at her home in Walhalla, S.C.
Born in Columbus, Ga., on April 30, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James Andrew Patterson, and the late Vera Elizabeth Shiflet Patterson.
Pat was raised in the Airline Community of Bowersville, Georgia. She attended high school in Washington, D.C., at Western High School, where she lettered in basketball. Her family relocated to Anderson, S.C. where she worked for Haynesworth Mill, Singer/Ryobi, and ultimately retired from Santeens of America. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her son, Trad Gunter (David Fretwell), grandchildren; Gage Gunter, Nicolette Gilliland, and Samantha Wooten, and great-grandchildren; Emily Gilliland, Waylon Browne, Amelia Rogers, and Emberlyn Rogers.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Mac Gunter and C.W. Beebe, her children, Jamie Gunter and Crystal Gunter, and her brothers, James Patterson, Jr., and Harold Patterson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 1:00pm – 2:00pm.
