Obituary for Sherry Chappel

Sherry Shontz Chappel
July 5, 1936 – December 9, 2022

Sherry Mae Shontz Chappel, 86 of Anderson, SC formerly of Oil City, PA went to her heavenly home on December 9, 2022. She died peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home after a year of failing health.

Sherry was born July 5, 1936, to the late Howard Herbert and Carrie Opal (Hutchinson) Shontz. She attended high school in Oil City and Cranberry High Class of 1955. She married the late Walter J. Kaiser on February 4, 1956. She married the late Donald E. Chappel on Nov. 25, 1988.

She was active in the Church of God throughout her life in both Pennsylvania and in Kentucky. She relocated with her daughter and son-in-law in 2021 to Anderson, SC. She managed and owned several businesses in Titusville Pennsylvania before retiring in 1996.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother Howard L. Shontz and her sister Mrs. Richard (Sandra) Ruth of Cooperstown, PA, a sister Marlene Shontz, her beloved son Walter Mark Kaiser of Oil City, PA and a granddaughter Anna Marie Boyles of Titusville, PA.

She is survived by a brother Cary I. Shontz and his wife Finette of Dunnellon, FL, a sister Mrs. Ivan (Rebecca) Ruth of Franklin, PA, a sister in law Louise (Sis) Shontz of Oil City, her daughter Mrs. Michael (Kalyne) Boyles of Anderson, SC a daughter in law Margaret Kaiser of National City, CA, a granddaughter Sarah M. Kaiser of National City, CA, a grandson Matthew M. Kaiser and his wife Cleo of Vancouver, WA and two great grandsons Link and Aiden, also of Vancouver, WA, a granddaughter Mrs. Raymond (Jayla) Hepner of Rural Hall, NC, a grandson Matthew E. Boyles of Barren Springs, VA and a great granddaughter Mrs. Paul (Jenna) Stenqvist of Winston-Salem, NC.

A memorial service is being planned in January 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Church of God 11 E. Eighth St. Oil City, PA 16301.
