Sarah Elizabeth Gunn “Lib” McCoy, 91, of the Flat Rock Community of Starr, and wife of the late Roy B. McCoy, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at her home.

Born in Habersham County, GA on July 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Frank Livingston Gunn and the late Thelma Julia Church Gunn.

For many years, she and her husband Roy owned and operated McCoy Exxon located at the corner of Main and Whitehall in Anderson. She was also past Secretary of the South Carolina Service Station Dealer’s Association. She was an active member of Unity Baptist Church in Starr and was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. Lib loved working on her cattle farm as long as her health permitted and was an avid flower gardener. Canning and baking for her family and friends was a favorite pastime of hers. She loved to help anyone in need and will be fondly remembered for her selfless acts of generosity to her community.

She is survived by her children, Mary Barnes and Thomas “Tom” McCoy (Genie), grandchildren Jason McCoy, Beth Adam, Angie Watkins (Chris), and Lynn Bryant (Rodney), great-grandchildren Amber Wiley (Mike), Tyler Watkins (Julia), Darren Bryant, Lea Brezeale (Keith), Jocelyn McCoy, Erin Adam and Joe and Delaney Adam.

She is also survived by her great-great grandchildren, Camryn, Connor, Colton, Lucas, Cooper and Maci.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susie Gunn West, her great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Watkins and her son-in-law, Bill Barnes.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 2:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. David Pickens, Rev. Lloyd Robison and Rev. Ray Butler will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park beside her husband.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 12:30pm – 2:00pm.

Social distancing is to be observed and face masks are required at all events.
