Obituary for Sammie Jean Campbell
Sammie Jean Campbell , 82, of Anderson , died April 27, 2023, at the Rainey Hospice house.
Born in Anderson on April 2, 1941, she was a daughter of the late, Sam Keasler Campbell, and the late Mary Elizabeth Gambrell.
Sammie Jean retired from AnMed Health Medical Center after 51 years service. She started at Anderson Memorial Hospital in 1960. She completed Radiology training in 1962 and became a certified radiologic technologist. She worked in radiology with many different roles including supervisory positions. She retired on September 9, 2011. Sammie love the radiology department and the medical staff. She was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Anderson and love to travel in her spare time.
She is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Campbell Childs, and Edna Campbell Wilson, as well as her nieces and nephews, Bill Childs (Melissa), Deborah Childs Ruse (the late Gregory), Amy Childs Owens (Jason), Lori Wilson Tolbert (Greg), Barry Wilson (Jackie), and many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Frances Campbell Graham, her brother, William Almond Campbell, and her nephew, Harry Graham Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 5901 SC-187, Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. Phillip Blankenship and Rev. Roger Gwinn will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends, at the church, prior to the service, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
