Obituary for Rodney Atkinson

Rodney Wade Atkinson, 70, of Orlando, FL passed away in his son and daughter-in-law’s home on May 6, 2021 due to complications of bladder cancer.
Wade was the son of the late Charles Bruce Atkinson and the late Grace Erwin Hearn Michels Rogala.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Atkinson (Victoria), and daughter Mary Rebecca Atkinson, his brothers Charles Atkinson Jr., Daniel Michels, and Jeremy Michels, sister, Susan Rogala Lutz, and his 4 grandchildren: Jamal Jr. Payne, Emmalee Atkinson, Araali Payne, and Samuel Atkinson. He is also survived by his best friend, Robert Carlton.
After growing up in Miami, FL, he moved to Orlando, FL where he spent the majority of his life. In his final months of life, he moved to Anderson, SC to be with his children and grandchildren.
Nothing brought Wade more joy than playing his guitar, studying scripture, and fishing. He spent many hours practicing his finger-picking skills, writing songs, and being engrossed in the Word of God, and in his younger days, one could find him on the banks of the Banana River or the shore of Cocoa Beach with his fishing line or net in hand. Most importantly, all who knew Wade knew that he held an unwavering faith and devotion to God, which he held on to even up until the end.
Wade was greatly loved and will greatly missed, but his family rejoices in the fact that he is now in glory.
