Obituary for Rodger Swaney
Rodger Dale Swaney (70) of Belton, SC returned to the arms of the Lord on April 17,, 2021. Rodger fought a brave battle with heart disease and passed peacefully at home with his wife by his side.
Rodger was born on February 27, 1951 in Pendleton, SC to parents Ruby Burns Swaney and William Earle Swaney. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson County. He spent many years working along side his family in the restaurant business. In his early years, he was involved in professional wrestling and rode the rodeo circuit. Rodger was an avid Clemson football fan and enjoyed time with his friends, rooting on his team. Rodger looked most forward to spending summers in New York State in his camper. He cherished his family and spending time with them. He was best known for his generous heart and lighthearted humor.
Rodger is predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jacqueline Loubier Swaney; brother, Brad Swaney (Anderson, SC); step-children, Michele (Shawn) Hawkins (Schenectady, NY), Keith Grzelecki (Anderson, SC) and Tanya Adams (Toccoa, GA); eight grandchildren, Stephaine, Tyler, Gavin, Jared, Nicholas, Natalya, Elizabeth and Bentley; cherished nephews, Paxton and Peyton Swaney. Rodger was also blessed to have extended family, Chelsea, Bradley, Elijah and Autumn Rae Chapman, who affectionately called him "Pops".
Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 24th, 2021 at Open Door Community Church, 102 Murphy Road, Belton, SC 29627.
The family would like to thank Interim Healthcare (Hospice), the Belton Fire Department, AnMed CICU Nursing Staff and many close friends for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
