Obituary for Robert Dowling

Robert Taft Dowling
October 30, 1935 – December 4, 2020

Bob Dowling entered into the joys of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2020. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” Bob and his family prayed that he would pass away at home, without pain, in his sleep and all these prayers were miraculously answered.

Bob loved to share his faith in Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He particularly loved to share his three favorite verses: Romans 3:23, John 3:16, and Ephesians 2:8-9.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

Bob’s greatest desire was to see all his family and friends join him in that real place called heaven. He was so excited to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to reunite with his son, William “Taylor” Dowling, who predeceased him.

Bob often prayed that God would love people through him, and God’s answer to this prayer was evident in his life. His love for people, great sense of humor, joyfulness, and generosity will be deeply missed by his friends and surviving children: Cathy Dowling Martin, Michael Dowling, Sr. (Cynthia), and David Dowling (Kelli); his beloved grandchildren: Michael Dowling, Jr., Madeline Dowling, Daniel Dowling, and Andrea Dowling; and his dear friend, Mary Jo Cosner. Looking forward to seeing him soon again when our Lord returns or we go to be with Jesus.
