Rev. Dr. Ray Alton Grant

Ray Alton Grant, 90, of Anderson, SC, went to his heavenly home on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Born on April 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Asa Grant and Fannie Grant.
Ray taught in schools across the upstate for many years. He was a teacher, a guidance counselor, as well as a beloved substitute. Ray also served as a Pastor for over five decades. He pastored Bethel Baptist Church of Anderson for 32 years until he retired in 2012.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Asa & Fannie Grant and his wife of 71 years, Betty Stephens Grant.
Ray is survived by his son, Stephen Grant of Anderson, his daughters Sheila Brooks (Neal) of Greenville and Sharon Vanhoose of Anderson, grandson Grant Vanhoose (Anna) of Greenville, granddaughter Taylor Brockman (Tavaras) of Anderson, his honorary granddaughter Amanda Mills, and his four great-grandsons, Toren & Teal Brockman and James & Rett Vanhoose.
A joint memorial service will be held for Ray and his wife, Betty, at 4:00 pm on Friday November 11, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church, 301 Rogers St, Anderson SC 29625. Pastor Mark Duncan will officiate.
A private burial will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
