R. E. Pickron
July 10, 1934- April 27, 2023
Raleigh Emory “R.E.” Pickron Jr., age 88, of Anderson, husband of the late Doris Pickron, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Gainesville, GA, he was the son of the late Raleigh Pickron Sr., and the late Mary O’Brien Pickron.
R.E. owned and operated Dawson’s Radiator shop and was affectionately known around town as the “Radiator Doctor”. In his younger years he was highly involved with ski tournaments on Broadway Lake. He always kept a large garden at his home and would share his crops with his fellow church members. For 50 years R.E. served on the Broadway Water District Board, and was a long-time, faithful member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Raleigh Emory “Ree” Pickron III, his wife Kristal, and granddaughter, Kaleigh Pickron. He is also survived by sister, Becky McAbee.
In addition to his parents, R.E. was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Doris Pickron.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 2609 US-29, Anderson, SC, 29621. Rev. Tom Owen will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC, 29621.
