Obituary for Rachel Crowe

(Rachel Crowe) Rachel Hatcher Crowe, 86, wife of the late Richard D. Crowe, of Anderson, died Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Anderson, on February 13, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Clifford Otis Hatcher and the late Wilder Maude Sexton Hatcher.

Rachel retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years’ service as a rural mail carrier in Anderson County. She was a long-time member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Anderson, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Donna Durham (Dennis), Karen Woodard (Stan), and Mark Crowe (Marie), as well has her grandchildren, Brady Durham, Blake Durham, Stephanie Lawson (Greg), Hillary Woodard (Tom Chupkowski), Matthew Crowe (Cassie), and Lucas Crowe (Kayla) and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Lucille Todd, Calvin “Pete” Hatcher, and George Waymond Hatcher.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Wednesday, September20, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Mari Gonlag will officiate, and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 1:00pm – 2:00pm.
