Dr. Phyllis J. Bogard
August 7, 1939 – June 5, 2021

Phyllis Jeanette Bogard, 81, of Anderson, SC passed away peacefully and comfortably at the Southern Oaks Rehab Center on June 5, 2021.

Phyllis was the daughter of the late Rex Beach White and Marie Evelyn Craig of California.

She is survived by her daughters, Denise Bogard Rusnak and Suzanne Bogard Walters, her son Brian Bogard, her brothers Charles White and Larry White, and her 6 grandchildren, John Rusnak, Austin Bogard, Alana Bogard, Matthew Walters, Sarah Walters and Christopher Bogard.

Phyllis grew up in Southern California, became a nurse, married, lived in Switzerland for 2 years, and had three children before realizing her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. She became a psychiatrist and really loved helping people.

She moved to Anderson with her daughter Denise and settled in next door with a very fulfilling job at the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center. She loved her co-workers and living on the lake with family.

Phyllis spent her time with friends and family going on adventures around the Upstate, getting to know her new hometown. She loved to travel and visited the Caribbean, Peru, Italy, Hawaii, and regularly attended meetings in Colorado, visited with family in California and went to class reunions in Nevada.

She was a musical soul and loved to sing, play recorder and piano. She loved listening to classical, Latin, operatic, classic rock and pop music. Her favorite was Andrea Bocelli.

Phyllis loved her life and lived it to the fullest and she loved her family and friends and the memories that she created with them.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday July 9, 2021, inside of the Tribute Room at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center. The family will also be receiving friends from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M, prior to her service.

Phyliss has been on my mind for months now, running in and out of my thoughts. The last time we spoke, she had had a stroke. I will and have missed her. She was such a gentle creature. We shared many lunches together catching up when she would breeze through town on her way to NY. Sometimes, she would stay over for the evening and catch her breath before getting back on the highway. As a client of mine starting back in 2001, we had many spiritual discussions. She was a Reiki Master, a good listener with a soothing voice offering reassurance and wisdom. She became a good friend. I made a short road trip to the Carolinas to visit her. She lived on the 10th floor with a beautiful view. I spent time at her home in Crisfield on the water... She was a lovely human being. "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but rather spiritual beings having a human experience." To her children I offer my love and condolences...she spoke of you often.
