Omer Michael Nelms
September 3, 1949- December 9, 2022
Omer Nelms, 73, of La France, SC, died Friday, December 9, 2022, at Cottingham Hospice house in Seneca, SC.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Omer Ceward Nelms, and the late Ruby Smith Nelms.
Omer was a biology teacher at Pendleton High School for over 28 years. Along with teaching, Omer coached tennis for many years at Pendleton. He was known for how he cared for others and would give the shirt off his back to help someone. Omer faithfully sent out cards for holidays, and birthdays. He also loved to bake, especially cakes and desserts. He was of the Baptist faith.
Omer is survived by his siblings, Cynthia Hart, Keith Nelms, and Kevin Grice, along with his nieces and nephews, Jason Marchbanks (Amy), Angie Crawford (Randy), Jessica Arndt (Evan), Alan Nelms (Tori), Corey Nelms (Brittany), Kip Nelms, Briar Grice, Alexis Grice, and Ashley Grice (Matthew). Omer is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Nelms.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, December 16, 2022, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 586 Issaqueena Trail, Central, SC, 29630.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Cancer Association of Anderson 215 East Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC, 29621.
