Obituary for Norman Mason

(Norman Mason) Norman Cleveland Mason, 83, of Westminster, S.C., died Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born in Oconee County, on February 27, 1939, he was a son of the late Fred W. Mason, and the late Alta Leatha Cleveland Mason.

Norman was a very adventurous guy who loved collecting artifacts and preserving history. He had several pieces on display through his contributions to the Museum of The Cherokee in South Carolina. He had a kind heart, and loved animals, friends and family. He also enjoyed writing poetry and was an avid reader. He authored a book intitled, Tales of Lost Love and Unusual Occurrences. He was a U.S. Air Force Staff Sargent Veteran stationed in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of Vets Helping Vets Anderson, and Sons of Confederate Veterans, as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by his son, Byron Mason (Angela), daughter, Cindy Mason, grandchildren; Samantha Adams (Austin), Blake Mason, Grant Mason, and Kendall Busha, as well as his brother, Keith F. Mason (Pat).

He is also survived by his niece, Angela Mason Lowe (Tommy), and their children, Erick Mason Lowe (Hannah-Grace), and Amber Lowe Moeckel.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, November 7, 2022, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Clayton Justice will officiate, and burial will follow at 1:00 pm at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr., Anderson, S.C. 29621.

The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
