Nancy Ann Powers (Sarles) passed away peacefully at her home on January 3, 2021 after an 18-month battle with brain cancer. She was 62.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gerald Powers, her sons, Colin and Bryan Powers, and her sister Margaret Sarles.
Nancy was born to Vivian (Williams) Sarles and Frank Sarles. Nancy graduated from James Madison Memorial High School in Madison, Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in Communications.
Nancy had a smile that lit up a room and warmed your heart. She opened her heart and home to everyone, making them feel part of the family. She loved the outdoors, especially her favorite place, Lake Hartwell. She loved rides on her pontoon boat; throwing frisbees for the family Labradors; and basking in the sun on the dock at the family’s house on the lake. She was an avid gardener, and truly had a gift with flowers. She also loved watching her birds and had feeders and bird baths surrounding her home.
Nancy remained positive throughout her battle with cancer, being grateful for every day. She said every day that she was truly blessed for having the time to connect with friends and family. She believed that God had a plan for her, and she was at peace with that plan.
In lieu of flowers and cards, Nancy requested that you donate to a cancer fund of your choice, so that research can continue, enabling us to finally defeat this terrible disease.
