Obituary for Nancy Payne
(Nancy Payne) Nancy Griffin Payne, 72, wife of Travis Payne, of Belton, died Friday, May 26, 2023, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, on September 7, 1950, she was a daughter of the late James Oliver Griffin and the late Claudine Peeples Hamilton.
Nancy was a 1968 graduate of T.L. Hanna High School. She then pursued a career with Bellsouth/AT&T and retired from there after 45 years’ service as an Engineering Clerk. She was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton, formerly known as Triangle Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Travis Payne, sons, Jason Payne (Lindsay) and Nathan Payne (Haley). She was an endlessly giving soul, and was a doting and dedicated Mema to all four grandchildren: Everett, Alaina, Owen, and John Henry Payne.
She is also survived by her sister, Pat Hayes.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Claudia Ryan Payne, her stepfather, Dewey Hamilton, and her brother, Jimmy Griffin Sr.
She was loved by everyone who knew her, including her granddogs, Connor, Grayson, and Charlie.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. C.W. Hicks will officiate, and burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 12:30pm – 2:00pm.
