Nancy Phillips Hawkins, 73, wife of Terry Hawkins of Anderson, died Monday, May 24, 2021, at Summit Place Assisted Living.
Born in Anderson, on December 4, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Edgar Phillips, Jr., and the late Evelyn Tinsley Phillips.
Nancy was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church where she sang in the sanctuary choir and served in several other areas of ministry, as long as her health permitted. For several years, she worked at Southwood Middle School and ultimately retired from Lowe and Company P.A. as a bookkeeper after 25 years.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Terry Hawkins, son, Scott Hawkins (Renee), grandchildren, Meredith Hawkins Pritchett (John-Michael), Whitney Hawkins Neal (Perry), Katie Hawkins (Michael Brooks), Anna Alexander, and Molly Hawkins, and great-grandchildren, Carter Pritchett and Sutton Brooks. She is also survived by her siblings, Vivian Boozer (Butch) and Herbert E. “Herbie” Phillips III.
She was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Hawkins.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 3:00pm in the sanctuary of Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29621. Rev. Bill Parnell will officiate, and entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at Concord Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service, from 1:30pm – 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621 or to The Haven of Rest, 219 W. Whitner Street, Anderson, S.C. 29624.
