Obituary for Mike Smith
(Mike Smith) Iva, S.C. Michael E. Smith, 70, of Iva, S.C., husband of the late Deborah Smith, died Friday, April 8, 2022, at his home.
Born in Elberton, Georgia, on February 4, 1952, he was a son of the late Marvin Eugene Smith and Kathryn Johnson Smith.
He retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas after 32 years of service and was a member of The Brook Church where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Smith, his sister, Andrea Smith, his children, Toni Whittard, April Hart, Katie Smith (Justin Fisher), Megan Cobb, Jeremy Broome Smith (Jaime), and Jennifer Smith, grandchildren; Katrina Shaffer, Holly Fisher, Jaylee Fisher, Caden Hart, Ethan Hart, Hailee Paul, Kailee Paul, Alyssa Paul, Heaven Fisher, Scottie Turner, Maggie Brock (James Fisher), Chandler Atkinson, Savannah Atkinson, and Jocelyn Smith.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law and caregiver, Kathy Lee.
In addition to his wife and his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Kathy Smith.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 1:30pm, on Monday, April 11, 2022, at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. A dual graveside service, with his brother-in-law, John Lee, will follow at 2:00pm, at New Silver Brook Cemetery. Pastor Ricky Hilton will officiate.
