Obituary for Michael Murphy
(Michael Murphy) Michael Gleason Murphy, 72, husband of Harriet S. Murphy, of Anderson, died Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his home.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on June 22, 1950, he was a son of the late Lewis Prescott Murphy, and the late Mae Adele Gleason.
For over 18 years, Michael was a manager with both Anderson locations of Ryan’s Family Steakhouse. He was an amateur historian, a passionate LSU fan and an avid golfer!
He is survived by his wife, Harriet S. Murphy, sons, Christopher Michael Murphy and Patrick S. Murphy (Angelina) grandsons; Devon Michael Murphy, Sean Patrick Murphy, and Noah Silva.
He is also survived by his brothers, Benjamin Franklin, and Richard Foster Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Prescott Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, on Monday, October 3, 2022, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Dr. Scott Davis will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E. Calhoun St., Anderson, S.C. 29621.
