Obituary for Mertis Emma Snow Fountain
(Mertis Fountain) Mertis Emma Snow Fountain, of Anderson, and wife of Wendell Fountain, passed to her heavenly home on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Julius Guy Snow, and the late Marie Jones Snow.
She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple, and worked in the textiles industry, retiring from Southern Weaving in Anderson.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her son, Scott Murphy of Anderson, granddaughters; Michelle Crisp and Priscilla Lee (Anthony), of Anderson, great-grandchildren; Ashley Bigby, Ciara Henderson, Preston Crisp, Karissa Henderson, all of Anderson, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by a special nephew, Rufus Bubby Hughes (Brenda).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Retta Jo Jones, her son, Steven Gene Martin, her sister, Guyelle Gambrell, and her brothers, Wansley, and Rally Snow.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Sam Duncan will officiate, and entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
