Obituary for Melford Brown
Melford Brown, 89, husband of the late Flora Nell Moore Brown, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in White County, GA on May 12, 1931, he was a son of the late John Brown and the late Gertrude Manley Brown.
Melford proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and then started a career as an auto mechanic. He worked at Guy Motors Ford for a number of years before starting his own company, Brown’s Auto on Lewis St. He was a faithful member of River of Life Church of God and was recently recognized by the church for his many years as church parking lot security officer. He also served the citizens of the City of Anderson as a reserve police officer in which he volunteered many hours.
He is survived by his daughter Lesia Brown Walters (Tommy), son Charles Michael Brown, daughters Wanda Womack (Roy), Maxine Brown (Tommy), Melinda Fricks and son Johnny Brown , sister Sylvia Ives (David), 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Billy Ray Brown and a grandson Brannon Brown.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Dale Dyar will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:30pm – 2:30pm on Thursday at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, SC 29625.
Social distancing is to be observed and face masks are required at all events.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children 950 W. Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605.
