Obituary for Maxine Smallwood

Maxine Young Smallwood, 71, wife of the late William Smallwood of Anderson, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Anderson on August 13, 1949, she was the cherished daughter of the late Max Lamar Young and the late Eula Louise Davis Young.

Maxine graduated from Leto High School in Tampa, Florida and retired as a customer service representative with Hydro-Aluminum in Belton.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenna Sanders (Billy), sons, Paul Hockman and Billy Hockman (Daphonie), grandchildren, Mitchell Ridgeway (Sara), Maxwell Ridgeway (fiancé-Jayleen), Colin Sanders, Rylee Sanders and Cassidy Hockman, and great-grandchildren, Brock Ridgeway, Savannah Ridgeway and Clara Ridgeway. She is also survived by her special friend and niece, Earline Grey.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her special aunt, Diane Stone.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29625. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm in The Tribute Room. Rev. Justin Sutherland will officiate, and private burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Those serving as pallbearers are, Billy Sanders, Colin Sanders, Mitchell Ridgeway, Billy Hockman, Ragan Stone, Neal Junkins and Zane Junkins.
