Obituary for Mary Moorer

(Mary Moorer) Mary Ruth Moorer, 88, wife of the late Bobby Gilbert Moorer, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at The Maples Assisted Living in Honea Path, S.C.

Born in Greenwood, S.C. on August 15, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Benjamin Bryan Black and the late Lillie Mae Wolfe Black.

Mary was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. For several years, she was a member of Lee Road U.M. Church in Taylors, S.C. and then a member of Trinity U.M. Church in Anderson. She will be fondly remembered as a tireless worker within any church that she served.

She owned and operated Ceramics Unusual in Greenville and Honea Path, where she specialized in crafting ceramics and teaching ceramic making classes.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Moorer (Luanne), and Scott Moorer, grandchildren, Anna Rose and Mary Laine Moorer and a sister-in-law, Linda Black.

She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John (Catherine) Black and Paul Black, and her sisters, Evangeline (L.J) Blackwell, and Jean (Tom) Langston.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 2:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. Dr. Don Cox will officiate. Social distancing is to be observed and face masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Maples Assisted Living 224 Wildwood Dr. Honea Path, S.C. 29654.
