Obituary for Mary Forrester
Mary B. Forrester, 87, of Iva, S.C., went into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 1, 2022.
Born on February 16, 1935, she was one of the 6 children of the late Parker and Grace Brown.
She grew up in Iva, attended Crescent High School, and later went to work with Owens-Corning Fiberglas, where she retired after 35 years.
Mary was very active in her community, and loved promoting and attending events in her beloved, Iva, S.C. She served on the Iva Town Council up until the time of her death, and she had served in that capacity for 18 years. Recently, Anderson County Council passed a “Resolution to honor and recognize Mary B. Forrester for her extraordinary service to the Town of Iva and Anderson County”.
Mary was married to the late Ray Forrester. Together they had a daughter, Charlene Campbell, who blessed them with 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, David Brown.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Clarence Brown, Gene Brown, Shelby Clark & Neal Brown.
Her cooking was some of the best around, and she was known for her special pound cake, and Sunday dinners, oftentimes with many guests attending.
To know her was to love her, and she was the perfect example of kindness to everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Iva, 9536 Hwy 81, Iva, S.C. 29655. Rev. Jerry Gray will officiate, and burial, beside her husband, will follow in Iva City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, at the church, prior to the service, from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm.
