Obituary for Mary Ann Marcaurelle

Mary Ann Marcaurelle
December 14, 1941- July 17, 2022

Mary Ann Delwaide Marcaurelle, 80, loving wife of Rev. Bob Marcaurelle, of Anderson, SC, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at her home.

Born in Austin, Texas on December 14, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. Delwaide, and the late Leola Delwaide.

Mary Ann met “Bob” at Sunday School, in Fort Worth, TX, while he was in seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They married on May 29, 1965, and started on a life-long journey of serving the Lord together. They served churches in Oklahoma and Georgia before settling in Anderson, SC, in 1971 where Bob was called as pastor of Concord Baptist Church. They served there for 31 years. After Bob retired, it was their joy to serve the people of Meadowbrook Baptist in Anderson. Mary Ann loved her calling as a pastor’s wife and as a faithful member of their churches. Mary Ann was the wedding director at Concord and for others. Hundreds of couples today look back at the personal and professional way she helped make their weddings beautiful. Her heart was also in her ministry to pre-school children as she directed the little choirs and served as the director of the Preschool Sunday School and nursery. She loved to include men in her core of preschool teachers and she chose men who loved children enough to play with them as they taught. Always a faithful minister, she served Meadowbrook as their church secretary. Her beautiful voice brought the story of Jesus’ love and comfort to all who heard her, both as a soloist, and as a choir member. She loved honoring God with her gift of music.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob, their daughters; Mendy Burton (Keith), Donna Lowe (Chuck), and Leigh Steadman (Brian), grandchildren; Brittany Lowe, Korie Burton (fiancé, Jake Rott), Tyler Lowe, Hunter Steadman, Chase Burton, and Lorelai Steadman.

She is also survived by her siblings, Jeanne Umbright (Ted), Charlie Delwaide (Becky), and Joe Delwaide (Cindy) along with many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann cared so deeply for her sister and brothers' children and their families.

Mary Ann truly lived for others. There were three different kinds of Orange Juice in the fridge, because her grandchildren liked “No” pulp – “Some” pulp and “Lots” of pulp. The grandkids knew they would walk in with candy and leave with a hug! She was at her children’s and grandchildren’s activities with Bob, as an avid fan, and cheerleader for dancing recitals, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, etc. right up to the time God took her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29621. Rev. Randy Blank will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends, in the church sanctuary, prior to the service, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm.

Flowers are optional, and memorial donations may be sent to Meadowbrook Baptist Church (Ongoing Love Fund), 2003 Lynn Ave., Anderson, S.C. 29621.
