Obituary for Marion Sage

Marion Jeanne Sage passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

She was born October 18, 1930 in Bay Shore, NY to Fredrick William Jr. and Marion Ross (Meiklejohn) Weis. She married Thomas G. Sage (deceased) on August 1, 1959 in Red Hook, NY.She is survived by two sons: Philip T. Sage of Geelong, Australia; David W. Sage of Limerick, ME; and her daughter Mrs. Perry (Patricia J.) Wehde, Anderson, SC.

She is also survived by her 14 grand children.

Jeanne was the first in her family to go to college. At 16 she attended the University of Dubuque, Iowa, studying music but paused her college ambitions for work and her family. She returned to college years later and in 1984 she earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Toledo.She enjoyed a long, distinguished career with the telephone company. She was very proud of her hard work and success. She retired in 1990.She was heavily involved with Scouting. Her husband was an Executive with the Boys Scouts of America and she was proud of the fact both sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. She was also active in Camp Fire Girls, Girl Scouts and the Explorer organization with her daughter.

She loved to travel within the USA and abroad. Maine, Alaska, China & Australia were some of her favorite travel memories. She often boasted of climbing the Great Wall of China with her family at age 82.She lived in many cities and States over time and wherever she lived she was very involved with the Catholic church. In keeping with her love of music, she became a Bell Ringer at the Holy Trinity Church in Peachtree City, GA.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Church 101 Walt Banks Rd. Peachtree City, GA 30269 on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 11:00 am. Interment will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:00 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1685 National Rd. Wheeling, West Virginia 26003.
