Obituary for Kay Hawkins
(Kay Hawkins) Linda Kay Hawkins, 69, wife of Rev. Mike Hawkins of Anderson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson on April 15, 1952, she was a daughter of Billy Leroy Woodruff and the late Doris Ann Hicks Woodruff.
Kay was a 30-year employee of AnMed Health and was currently a nurse with Pediatric Associates at the Health Campus where she has been for over 20 years. She and her husband are members of Temple Baptist Church in Anderson and she served in many areas of the children’s ministry. She was an AWANA leader and taught a childrens Sunday School class. For over 35 years, she and her husband served as missionaries for AWANA for the State of South Carolina. Kay spent her professional life caring for the physical health of children. She spent her personal life caring for the spiritual health of children, so that they may come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ. She enjoyed camping, traveling and being “Nana” to her wonderful grandchildren!
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Mike Hawkins, daughter, Sandi Hawkins Diaz (Alex), sons, Josh Hawkins (Tara), and Sam Hawkins (Ilse), and grandchildren, Grace and Matthew Diaz, Karis and Eden Hawkins and Bradley Day.
She is also survived by her father, Billy Leroy Woodruff (Becky), and her sister, Jan Bagwell (Charles).
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Temple Baptist Church.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at Temple Baptist Church. Dr. Mark Pollard and Rev. Edson Garcia will officiate. Entombment of her ashes will be held at a later date, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Flowers are optional and may be delivered to the church. Memorial donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church (Children’s Fund) 2905 Standridge Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29625.
