Lena May Lake Duvall
June 13, 1925- February 25, 2023
Lena May Duvall, 97, of Seneca, SC, and formerly of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully in her sleep under hospice care, at Condor Health in Anderson, SC, on February 25, 2023.
She was born in Frederick Maryland on June 13, 1925, to the late William Cleveland and Artie Mae (Silvus) Lake.
She spent many years working as a CNA in the Frederick Maryland area. She enjoyed gambling at Charlestown Casino in Charlestown, WV, and in Cherokee, NC, (She was pretty lucky!). She enjoyed many vacations in Charleston, SC, and more recently Gatlinburg, TN, over the Christmas holiday. She attended the day program at Senior Solutions in Seneca, SC, which she enjoyed. It made her day to have an unsweetened ice tea from Starbucks (Or as she called it “That coffee place”). At home you would rarely find her without her handled poker machine, watching Wheel of Fortune, or playing with her great-grandchildren Keith Wayne “K.W.”, and Paisley Grace Honig-Hill.
She is survived by daughters Carol Hill (Henry), JoAnn Hultz (R.E.), and Arlene Honig (David). Surviving also are grandchildren, William Stull, Jeff DeGe, Brandi DeGe, Ashley Wolf, Christie Love, Jennifer Honig and partner Keith Hill ( with whom she resided), Tommy Green and Mehrl Stull IV. She is survived by many great-grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren, Landon Sarber and Violet Hayes. Prior to her passing we were a living five generations family. She is also survived by her sister Bette Haroun and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl J. Duvall in 2010. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Harry , Eugene, Roy, Charles, and Henry Lake, sisters Virginia Adams, and Mary Askins, her daughter Barbara Shoemaker, sons Mehrl V. Stull III, and Kenneth Gerber, and granddaughter Gail Yvonne Stull.
Per her wishes there will be no viewing and she will be cremated. Arrangements are being handled by The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center.
