Obituary for Jeanene Devitt
Jeanene Marie Devitt passed away on July 4, 2022, in Pendleton, South Carolina, after a brief illness.
Born in Dillon, South Carolina, on December 15, 1964, she was a daughter to the late George and Marie Devitt.
Her brief life was filled with peaks and valleys. She was fiercely independent, overcame significant obstacles and had a generous spirit.
Jeanene grew up in Navarre, Florida, and her lifelong love of the beach never wavered. She was always up for a trip to Navarre Beach to feel the sun on her face, the sand in her toes and listen to the sound of the waves.
Jeanene deeply cared for and felt a connection to all animals especially Red, Cricket and Pepper.
Visitors to her home in Pendleton were greeted by an abundance of flowering plants. Her love of gardening was evident. She could always be counted on to identify a plant if ever a sibling couldn’t and she was generous with her plants and her knowledge.
Her family has fond memories of specials times with Nene: Riding blue bikes on the streets of Holley, flying Blue Angel kites at Navarre Beach, a road trip to Washington DC, gardening together and visiting gardens, fishing at the beach and in the bay, eating the seafood she loved so much.
Jeanene is survived by her daughter, Jenna Alger, her brother George Devitt, and sisters Laura, Joni and Tami along with many loving nieces and nephews.
