James W. Wardlaw
James William Wardlaw, husband of 49 years and 9 months to Linda B. Wardlaw passed to his heavenly home on April 28, 2024.

He was born June 3, 1934, in Belton, SC. He was the son of William C. Wardlaw and Emma Ruth Murphy Wardlaw. Raised on a dairy farm, he has owned a herd of cattle all his life. He attended Boys High School and chose the profession of auto mechanic. After working for CMS Garage for 12 years, he built and operated Wardlaw’s Garage and Body Shop for 40 years in the Broadway School Community.

James was a member of Dorchester Baptist Church his entire life, where he served in many positions. He had a quick wit and a hearty laugh that was unforgettable. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda B. Wardlaw, sons Danny and Stephen Wardlaw, daughters Lori Harris and husband Ken, Timi Davie and husband Phillip, and Allison Goff and husband Randy.

Known as Popi to his grandchildren. He is survived by Julie Payne (Chad), Jeremy Wardlaw (Emiy), Zachary Wardlaw (Sarah), Mikel Harris (Nancy), Mason Harris (McKenzie), Kensley Harris Cobb (Adam), Hannah Davie Huffines (Trent), Leah Davie, Gabriel Campbell, Jackson Campbell (Madeline) and Abigail Goff. Great-grandchildren are Isabella, Breydan and Jackson Payne, Walker and Spencer Wardlaw, Olivia and Natalie Wardlaw, Emma Kate Wardlaw, Alex, Liam and Ellianna Harris, Bama Johnson, Saban Harris, Jasper Harris, Crimson Harris, and Harrison Cobb.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters Joann Lovely and Betty Martin, brother-in-law Marvin Martin, grandsons Grant Wardlaw, Jacob Wardlaw, Isaac Cooper Goff, great grandson Luke Wardlaw and beloved son-in-law Jeff Horne.

James will be terribly missed by all those left behind. Our hearts are broken and his memory will always be treasured.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Dorchester Baptist Church, 134 Dorchester Rd., Belton, S.C. 29627. Rev. Randy Goff and Rev. Michael Allen will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

The family will receive friends, at the church, prior to the service, from 11:00am – 12:45pm.
