Obituary for James Herbert "Herb" McLane
James Herbert “Herb” McLane, 79, of Anderson, died Sunday, November 20, 2022, at his home.
Born in Anderson, on April 16, 1943, he was a son of the late Dewey Lee McLane, and the late Jessie Mae Ashworth McLane.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann “Maggie” McLane, who died only 4 days prior.
He was a U.S. Veteran and retired from the tire industry.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Brown (Matt), Anne Whalin, Rhonda McKinley, Sydel Doster (John), Jackie Keown (Patrick), Jaime McLane, Jimmy McLane (Kelli), Steve McLane (Machelle), Thomas Bridges, Christopher Barnett and Kenny Barnett.
He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Odom, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Ray, Douglas, Tommy and Roger McLane.
A joint funeral service for Herb and Maggie McLane will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 12:00pm, at The Iva First Assembly of God, 1205 Elberton Hwy, Iva, S.C., 29655. Rev. Helen Sutherland will officiate, and entombment of ashes will follow at 2:00pm at M.J. “Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery, with military honors.
The family will receive friends, at the church, prior to the service, from 11:00am – 12:00pm.
