James Landreth

James Mack Landreth, 74, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
Born May 29, 1948, James was a son of the late Johnny C. Landreth, Sr. and the late Bonnie Owen Landreth.
He spent his childhood in La France, SC, and then moved with his parents to Pendleton, SC, where he met Nelwyn Elaine Pruitt and they were married in 1969.They both spent most of their years living in the city of Pendleton and later in Anderson. They have two children, Alanna Landreth and Evan James Landreth. He is also survived by two grandsons, Joshua & Jonathan Landreth, and his brother, Johnny C. Landreth, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wade Landreth.
James graduated from Pendleton High School in 1966. In 1970, he graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, with a Bachelors in Music Education. In 1974, he graduated from Western Carolina University with a Masters in Music Education. Throughout the years, he took many other graduate courses at Western Carolina University and was certified in the Orff approach to music teaching.
James spent his entire professional years as a music teacher in Anderson County School District Four, first at the high school and middle school level and then at the elementary level at Townville and Pendleton Elementary. He was awarded Teacher of the Year twice at Pendleton Elementary as well as District Teacher of the Year.
He was well known for his Orff music program.
James spent many of his years at La France Church of God in the music ministry and in his later years, he attended High Praises Church of God.
A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens, 586 Issaqueena Trail, Central, S.C. 29630, on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11:00am. Pastor James Shealy and Pastor Chris Sustar will officiate.
