Obituary for James Hubert Cox

(Jim Cox) James Hubert Cox, 67, of Belton, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at his home.

Born in Anderson, on April 9, 1955, he was a son of the late Hubert Walker Cox, and the late Frances Grace Timms Cox.

He was the second of three children. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Grady Timms Cox.

He is survived by his younger sister, Janet (Cox) “Jan” White, and a host of nieces and nephews, along with, neighbors and friends who became like family.

Jim graduated B.H.P. High School in 1975. He was employed by Abney Mills and Belton Bagging Company. A short time later, he decided to service tennis courts, thus, Palmetto Tennis was born. He did this work until a back injury prevented him from continuing. He didn’t let that stop him from living though. Jim enjoyed his nieces and nephews. To them, he was “Uncle Junejune”! He was always the cool uncle with funny jokes, driving sessions, and he occasionally shared a recipe. He was a devoted Clemson Tigers fan. If you were fortunate enough to be friends with him, you know how generous he was. Even when he didn’t have a lot, he made a point to give gifts and share what he could.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00am, on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Garden of Memories in Belton. Keith Martin will officiate.

Flowers are optional, or memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
