Obituary for Homer Johnson
Homer Johnson, 76, husband of Madonna Carroll Johnson, of Belton, S.C., changed houses to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Born in Sylacauga, Alabama, on October 25, 1946, he was a son of the late Luther Hyott Johnson and the late Annie Bell Lollis Johnson.
Homer retired from Johnson Electric in Greenville, S.C., and spent the rest of his life doing evangelism work. He loved to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through singing and giving his testimony. We worked in campground ministry and ministered to veterans at the Richard Campbell Veterans Home as often as possible. He was so proud of the fact that he had visited The Holy Land 8 times during his life! He was a former member of the Craytonville Volunteer Fire Department, and he was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a member of Vets Helping Vets-Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Madonna Carroll Johnson, children; Keith Trotter (Lisa), Tony Johnson, Kristy Rogers (Richard), and Steven Johnson, as well as 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jenny Ouzts and Kay Dangerfield, God-Daughter, Amanda Gibson, and 6 “grandchildren in love”.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Robert "Pee Wee" Mull, Martha “Mot” Gambrell, and Rodney Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Monday, February 13, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Mark Spearman, Rev. Justin Driver, and Helen Sutherland will officiate. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors.
The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service from 12:00pm – 2:00pm.
