George “Pete” C. Wilbanks, 74, of Greenwood, S.C., passed away on February 15, 2023, with his loving wife of 11 years, Margaret Kirkpatrick Wilbanks by his side.

Born in Seneca, S.C., on January 8, 1949, he was a son of the late Crayton and Louise Sammons Wilbanks.

Pete was a Vietnam Veteran who served proudly in the United States Army. He retired from Michelin Tire Corporation in Sandy Springs, S.C. The University of South Carolina Gamecocks Football Team was special to Pete as was being on the lake fishing.

In addition to his wife, Margaret Kirkpatrick Wilbanks, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Wilbanks Craine and his special granddaughter, Alyssa.

He is also survived by his 2 sisters, 1 brother, and many extended family members.

He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Judy Solsbee Wilbanks and 2 brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Pastor James Bannister will officiate. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson, with military honors.

The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm.
