Obituary for Gary Skaggs
Gary Skaggs, 75, husband of Annette Skaggs of Anderson, died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Canvas, West Virginia on August 2, 1945, he was a son of the late Aubrey Skaggs and the late Addie Keen Skaggs.
Gary served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he retired as Master Sergeant after 20 years service. After retirement, he spent nearly 15 years in real estate and then ultimately finished his career as a Deputy Sheriff with Charleston and Dorchester Counties in South Carolina for 17 years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annette Vandall Skaggs, sons, Franklin “Kank” Skaggs (Ginger) and Brian Skaggs (Wendy), grandchildren, Aubrey Skaggs, Dustin Blaney, Jonathan Skaggs and Caitlin Skaggs.
He is also survived by his brothers, Hilbert Skaggs, William Skaggs and Fred Skaggs (Ola).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Michael Skaggs and a sister, Karen Sutherland.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Randy Sutherland will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00pm - 1:00pm.
The family will host a celebration of life gathering at his home following the memorial service, 104 Kingshill Dr. Anderson, S.C. 29625. All family and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Cancer Association of Anderson 215 E. Calhoun St. Anderson, S.C. 29621.
