Obituary for Wayne McCullough

(Wayne McCullough) Ernest Wayne McCullough, age 76, of Starr, S.C., passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

He retired from Duke Energy after 38 years of service and served as a volunteer fireman for 45 years with the Flat Rock-Bowen Fire Department.

Wayne loved the outdoors, and some of his passions were traveling (especially to the western states), hunting, fishing, and spending time on his tractor. He was a selfless individual who loved his family and was always willing to help those in need.

Wayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iva.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Annie Mae Brown McCullough; three brothers, Edward, Charles, and Lane McCullough, and a sister, Linda Kay.

He is survived by his wife, Linda McCullough, two daughters, Tracie Robinson (Joey), and Tamie Bolt (Roger), son, Tylen McCullough (Tiffany), five grandchildren, Branigan (Austin), Caleb, Dylan (Jordan), Garrett, Maggee, and Phoenix, two great-grandchildren, Blakely and Lillian, sister, Wilda Smith, brothers, Henry and Jerry McCullough, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by Linda’s extended family, Anita Ross (Gene), Daryl and Megan Ruhland, and their two children, Scarlett and Eric, who affectionately referred to Wayne as “Papa” and who had a special place in Wayne and Linda’s life, as well as Greg and Angie Neeley and their children and grandchildren to whom we owe a special dept of gratitude for all the love and kindness shown to Wayne and the family. The family is also grateful for all the friends who called, visited, sent cards, etc., during Wayne’s illness.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Iva, 9536 SC 81, Iva, S.C. 29655. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. Burial will be held at Iva City Cemetery with fireman honors.
