Obituary for Ella Hanks
(Ella Hanks) Ella Mae Carey Hanks, 91, wife of the late Sanford Ellis Hanks, of Iva, S.C., died Friday, February 3, 2023.
Born in Georgia, on December 29, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Emanuel and Rosie Carey.
Ella was a homemaker, and a member of Rocky River Baptist Church in Iva, where she served in many areas of church life as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Young, son, Kenneth Hanks (Connie), grandchildren; Barron Young (Vickie), Brad Young (Stephanie), Brooke Young Powell (Jeremy), and Angie Martin (Jason), as well as many great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Armon Hanks (Judy), son-in-law, Marshall Young, grandsons, Brent Young (Beth), and Brian Hanks, and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, February 6, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
The family will speak to attendees following the graveside service.
