Edgar W. Brown
February 26, 1956 - January 14, 2023
Edgar Walter Brown, age 66, of Anderson, SC passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Born on February 26, 1956 in Anderson, he was the oldest child of the late Earley E. Brown and Marilyn Brown of Anderson.
A long-time member of the IBEW, Edgar was currently serving as the Assistant Business Manager with IBEW LU 379. With over 40 years of service, his travels took him to many places across the USA; from coast to coast, and as far as Alaska, he enjoyed the brotherhood of many good brothers along the way. Edgar spent much of his time riding his Harleys, working on old cars, playing golf, running, and hiking. He loved a good crossword puzzle and rarely turned down an opportunity to challenge himself by learning a new skill or hobby. Edgar was always willing to help those in need and will be remembered as a friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Edgar was preceded in death by his father, Earley E. Brown; a brother, Mike A. Brown; and a brother-in-law, Terry Gilreath.
He is survived by his children, sons Jason and Blake, daughter Brittany and her husband Zack; his mother, Marilyn Brown; a brother, Earl “Nick” Brown and his wife, Debra; sister, Melinda Gilreath; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family, friends, and IBEW brothers and sisters.
The family will host a memorial service Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Burdine Road Church of God in Anderson, beginning at 2pm. Pastor Lanier and Brother Earl “Nick” Brown will be leading the service.
In lieu of flowers, it was Edgar’s wish that donations be made to charity. Two he supported were the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
