Obituary

Donny Frazer Thomas, 64, resident of Townville, passed away peacefully February 23, 2021 at the Anderson Medical Center.
Born in Brookhaven, GA, on December 21, 1956, Donny was a son of Howard Frazer and Martha Ann Nalley Thomas. Upon graduating high school in Dekalb County, Donny’s love for the community and safety of its citizens helped gear him towards his long-lasting career in public safety. At the age of 18, Donny began working for Gwinnett County as a fireman. From that moment, he fell in love with the job and spent his entire life devoted to that field. During his career he was involved in many specialties including EMT, Smoke Diver, Swift Water Rescue, Technical Rescue, Instructor, Mentor and many others. After building his dream home on Lake Hartwell, he moved to Townville, SC and became a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. There, he volunteered in many areas and quickly became a loved church member by many.

Donny is survived by his four children, Nickie (Jimmy) Clark of Forsyth, GA, Brandon (Catherine) Thomas of Dacula, GA, Ansley Aaron of New York, and Caleb Thomas of Anderson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashlynn Clark, Justin Clark, Kaitlynn Roberts, and his siblings, Ronny (Phyllis) Thomas of Grayson, GA and Connie (Allen) Glover of Snellville, Ga.
Donny was preceded in death by a daughter, Aimee Thomas.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 26, at Oakdale Baptist Church, with Rev. David Blizzard officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Cemetery in Fairplay, SC.
Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 to 3:00
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to The Birdwell Foundation, www.birdwellfoundation.org, attention to First Responders.

Donny was a firemens fireman! He always wanted to be the first one in and the last one out. I always loved whenever I got the chance to work with him because he'd always teach you something new. Rest in peace my brother, you were one of the best! Randy Kapalko.
