Obituary for Donna McCoy Murry
Donna Murry
October 18, 1926 - September 9, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved mother, Donna McCoy Murry, 95, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2022 after a short illness. As expressed by a dear friend, “she left arms that loved her deeply to land in arms that love her infinitely more”.
She is survived by four children, Marie Smith, Melinda Moretz, Eliza(beth) Murry Chadwick (Mike Pollitt), and Owen James Murry, Jr. (Cathy), eight grandchildren, Rose Smith, Shanna Smith, Eric Moretz (Erika), Hayley Moretz, Whitney Hamm, Austin Chadwick, Hannah Murry, and Patrick Murry, and three great grandchildren, Matthew Hamm, Lizzie Hamm, and Orlando James Moretz. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Watson McCoy, her mother Marie Byrd McCoy, her sister, Thomasine McCoy Bargeron, and her daughter, Susan Murry Gayheart.
Born in Augusta, Georgia on October 18, 1926, Donna spent much of her adult life in Savannah, Georgia, raising her children and working as a registered dietician at Memorial Medical Center until her retirement at age 75. Her unconditional and all-encompassing love for her family and friends was only exceeded by her total and unwavering love and devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We celebrate her transition to her joyful and eternal life while we mourn the loss of her loving presence here.
A private memorial service will be held November 19, 2022 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
