Obituary for Dinah Buckner

(Dinah Buckner) Dinah Wall Buckner, 77, wife of Dr. Sam Buckner, of Pendleton, S.C., died Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Asheville, N.C., on July 25, 1945, she was the only daughter of the late Sydney Corpening Wall and the late Helen Milam Wall.

Dinah earned her B.S. degree from Mars Hill College in Physical Education and enjoyed being active all her life. She loved the game of tennis and once won the City of Clemson Tennis Championship. She also excelled in basketball and earned several trophies in that sport. She was an avid horse and nature lover and enjoyed being outdoors.

Her faith was extremely important to her. She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church in Anderson and had been a Sunday School teacher most of her adult life. She taught all ages of Sunday School, from children to adults. She and her husband were former members of Pendleton First Baptist Church, Pickens First Baptist Church, and Taylors First Baptist Church. She loved studying the Bible and volunteering with local women’s shelters where she enjoyed spreading the love of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Sam Buckner, daughter, Susannah Buckner Fricks (Toby), and grandchildren, Kennedy Fricks and Carter Fricks, as well as a close family friend, Melody Parks.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Milam and Russell Wall.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29621. Dr. Don Cox will officiate.
