Obituary for Derrill Chapman

Derrill Chapman
August 17, 1947 – January 29, 2023

Derrill Clinton Chapman, 75, husband of Joyce “Ann” Beard Chapman, took his victory lap into Heaven on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Born August 17, 1947, he was the son of the late Harold Chapman and the late Elizabeth Davidson Chapman Brooks.

Derrill owned and operated C&W Electric and C&W Security for over 40 years. He became quite well-known in the community through his service and dedication to his customers.

Dedication was shown in everything that Derrill did and his integrity was unmatched. Kind and loyal, he was a man of his word and lived by the motto, “Simply Do What’s Right.”

His hobbies included dirt & asphalt racing, motorcycles, carpentry work and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.

Derrill was a faithful member of his church where he was the Deacon Chairman, Building & Grounds Chairman and a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital and Shriners Children's Hospital of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Chapman.

Along with his wife, Ann, of 56 years, he is survived by his children, Amanda Martin (Ernie) & Mark Chapman, his grandchildren, Clifton Moore, Tyler Moore (Erin), Cameron Moore (Kathryn), Jarod Chapman & Hannah Chapman, and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Moore, Hunter Woodrum, Ansleigh Woodrum, Lucy Moore, Charlotte Moore & Maverick Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne Moore, and his furry friends, Bella, Reba & Chico.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2023, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. Bruce Evans & Rev. Tom Owen will officiate. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service in The Maple Room of The Standard from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, PAWS or Forest Hill Baptist Church.
